Nottingham Academy Year 6 Visitor Opportunities, and Year 12 Students

As the time approaches for Year 6 families to make an important decision about their child's future secondary school, Nottingham Academy is excited to offer several opportunities to explore what we have to offer.

Year 6 Open Evening


We warmly invite Year 6 students and their families to our Year 6 into 7 Open Evening, taking place at the Greenwood Campus, Nottingham Academy, Greenwood Road, on Tuesday 24th September 2024, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.

The evening will begin with refreshments, followed by a presentation from key staff, and guided tours of the campus. Each visitor will receive an information booklet to take home, and there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

Students are encouraged to bring along their Golden Invitation, which can be placed in our Golden Ticket box for a chance to win an exciting prize! 



Additionally, our Sixth Form Open Evening will be held simultaneously at our Bridge Campus, where families are also welcome to explore the Sixth Form provision. Click here for more details...

 

Science: Experiments and Exploration

Our science department has prepared a series of fascinating demonstrations:

  • Biology: Witness the dissection of living tissue and observe cells under a microscope.
  • Food Science: Test food samples for nutrients and explore how chemistry plays a role in our diets.
  • Chemistry: Discover how chemistry is used to find the concentration of solutions, identify metals using a Bunsen burner flame, and try your hand at chromatography to separate different inks.
  • Physics: See forces in action and learn how we study waves and their impact on the world around us.

Maths: Sparx Demonstration

Come and see the innovative Sparx Maths programme in action. Learn how this cutting-edge tool helps students sharpen their maths skills with interactive lessons and personalised learning. You can also join in on fun and engaging maths challenges that show how maths can be both practical and exciting.

Languages: A Taste of Spain and Beyond

Test your knowledge of Spain with a fun quiz and various activities, or meet our Community Languages Ambassadors to learn key phrases from their native languages. It's a great opportunity to celebrate language diversity at Nottingham Academy.

History: Food in WW1 Trenches

Step back in time and experience what soldiers ate during WW1 in our history department's activity. Try out trench food and learn more about life on the front lines.

Religious Education: Big Questions

Our RE department tackles life’s big questions. Join us as we explore topics like "What does it mean to be human?", "How do I see the world?", and "What is the most ethical choice?" through engaging activities designed for curious minds.

Art: Creativity Unleashed

Get hands-on with art by designing your own Art Badge or participate in the Straw Bridge Building challenge. Let your creativity shine in these practical art sessions.

Child Development: Bottle Making

Learn how to make a bottle of baby milk using powdered formula, just as parents and caregivers do. This hands-on activity offers an introduction to the practical skills involved in caring for young children, with a focus on child nutrition and safety.

Health and Social Care: Arts and Crafts

Our Health and Social Care department invites you to unleash your creativity with fun Arts and Crafts activities. A great way to express yourself while learning about this caring profession.

PE: Sports Hall Fun

Try out exciting activities in our Sports Hall, including Rowing, Badminton, and Basketball. A great way to get active and see how PE at Nottingham Academy promotes teamwork and fitness.

Computing: Digital Competitions

Test your typing skills in our Touch Typing Competition or try your hand at Cartoon Character Design using vector art. A perfect activity for tech enthusiasts and future designers.

Drama: Games and Fun

Join the drama department for a series of fun Drama Games. Whether you're an aspiring actor or just want to have fun, this is the perfect place to express yourself.

Music: Experiment with Instruments

Love music? Experiment with different instruments and explore the sounds and rhythms that make music magical.

Library: Explore and Create

Visit our library to:

  • Make your own Bookmarks.
  • Take part in the Guess the Character Quiz.
  • Discover the world of books and find your next great read.

Sixth Form Open Evening & Year 12 Information Evening

Date: Tuesday, 24th September
Time: 4-7pm
Location: Bridge Campus, Nottingham Academy

Discover our brand-new Sixth Form building and its state-of-the-art facilities. Meet the teachers leading our courses and learn about the subjects, including details on exams and coursework. This is a great opportunity to discuss your Sixth Form journey with our staff. Parents, carers, and students are all welcome.

Open Morning Tours


For those who wish to see our students in action, we are offering Open Morning Tours at The Bridge Campus, Sneinton Boulevard. Tours will last approximately 30 minutes and will run until Friday, 18th October 2024, by appointment only.
