For low level-EAL (English as an Additional Language) learners we offer a specialist provision to enhance the language skills of New Arrivals with little to no English.

We provide an intense language course that develops the students’ reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar and vocabulary skills. The provision provides a gateway to the wider Academy where students are given the academic and pastoral support they need before transitioning to mainstream lessons.

Our students come from all over the world and our two classes are made up from all year groups from 7 through to 11.

Whilst the curriculum mainly consists of ESOL (English for speakers of other languages), our students also have bespoke lessons in Maths, Science, ICT, Art, Drama, Music and PE, which are all taught by subject specialists.

The provision aims to equip students for academic life within the broader school community while providing a nurturing environment that fosters confidence and instils The Academy’s Core Values.
